Taking a walk

Antonia and I haven't been out of the house much since we got out of the hospital. In fact, we've only really made it out for doctor's appointments (hers and mine) so really her outings to this point have been no fun at all. Today the sun was shining and I had a little extra energy, so Antonia, Zu, my dad and I decided to take our first walk around the neighborhood. Antonia seemed to love it and was content as could be in her Chicco "Keyfit Caddy" stroller (which performed great in the snow and uneven pavement in case anyone is in the market! Thanks Auntie Tera! :)). She didn't even seem to mind putting her snowsuit on for the first time! Zu was in heaven getting a long walk with my dad. And it felt nice for me to be out and about in the sun finally (although sadly, I have a bit of thigh-burn now...). Here are a couple pics from our great journey around the block:

A couple more videos

It's kind-of nuts how hard it is just to find the time to sit down at the computer, download a couple videos and write a post these days!  It's all made a little tougher given that we think Antonia has a touch of the colic... Not so fun for any of us, least of all the wee one with belly aches :(.  In any case, here are a couple videos we've taken in the last few days during non-colicy moments (I promise you, no one wants to see videos during the colicy breakdowns...).

We noticed last week that Antonia was starting to make some eye contact and caught her looking at the birds in her mobile so we decided to try out a couple toys.  The results were pretty adorable if you ask us :)

We took the next video during one of our precious "quiet alert" moments.  We "heart" quiet alert moments where we can find them!

Firsts

As Antonia lost her umbilical cord stump last week (in poor Andy's hand... Nice...) she enjoyed her first "tummy time" today on her activity mat. She had briefly and unsuccessfully attempted the activity mat yesterday, but it was really a rookie parenting issue (over-tired baby + new stimulation = not such a good idea... Duly noted ;)). Today we planned much better and put her down right after a good nap, hardy feed and clean bum. Basic needs met... Check! She actually seemed to enjoy both the mat and the tummy time (although "enjoy" is a little tough to tease out at this point given the lack of ability to smile and such, but let's just say there was no lip quivering and no tears were shed- yay!). Here are some pics. As you can see, Zu enjoyed the mat too :).

How we spend our days

We've been a tad tired since we returned from the hospital, so we've been doing a lot of this during the day (unfortunately less so at night although that's getting a little better night by night...):

Some pics and videos of Miss Antonia to tide you over... :)

As many of you know, our sweet little Antonia Madeleine was born on 1/31/13. She was born via a complicated c-section after 40 hours of labor and so we just got home Thursday afternoon after a fairly difficult week of recovering in the hospital. It was good timing given the incoming blizzard as we had just enough time to gather prescriptions, groceries and dog food before the storm hit. A detailed birth story will be forthcoming once I have recovered a bit more and have a little more energy but in the meantime, enjoy these pictures and videos we took while we were in the hospital :).

The "Wake Up Antonia" song, useful for when momma really needs to feed :)

Just lookin' cute
